Was Karnan Refused Education, and Was He Really Equal to Arjuna?

Whenever Karnan is discussed, two questions are always raised. Was Guru Dronacharya wrong in refusing to teach him? And was Karnan really a warrior equal to Arjuna? I want to look at both questions in simple English, based on what is described in Vyasa Mahabharatham and what I have heard in upanyasams.

Amidst the ongoing debate surrounding the preservation of Sanathana Dharma and the classification of Tamils as non-Sanathanis, it’s important to emphasize that Sanathana Dharma is deeply rooted in the Vedas, Velvis(Yajnas) Puranas, and Itihasas.

To illustrate this connection, I’ve compiled references to Vedas, Velvis(Yajnas) from some Tamil literatures:

River and Water Management

Kings those days very well knew that only if Agriculture prospers the country prospers. All the kings brought in a lot of water harvesting plans, irrigation systems like man-made lakes & ponds. But Raja Raja Chozhan mastered the art of river management. Uyyakondaan and Keerthimaan are a few distributary channels that flow from large rivers during Raja Raja Chozhan’s rule. In places where there are no large rivers, man-made lakes were made.

Two major emperors from the Chozha kingdom include Raja Raja Chozhan and his son Rajendra Chozhan. Although the areas governed by Rajendra Chozhan were comparatively higher than his father Raja Raja Chozan, he laid the groundwork for this.
